Worthington gets nearly 2.5 inches of rain during overnight hours

A total of 2.47 inches of precipitation was measured early Wednesday morning at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant following heavy rains overnight.
The measured rain came up just shy of the record amount for the date, which was 2.70 inches on Aug. 6, 2002.
In other nearby communities, Pipestone had an official measurement of 1.25 inches of rain, Sheldon, Iowa had 1.1 inches and Marshall received .91 inches.
Worthington's overnight rainfall brought the total amount of precipitation so far in 2025 to 21.98 inches. The normal amount of precip for an average year — through July 31 — is 18.93 inches. The normal amount of rain in Worthington in each August is 3.85 inches.
