Worthington Cubs shut out in Fairmont; play Sunday

The Worthington Cubs amateur baseball team was defeated 3-0 in a matchup Wednesday night in Fairmont.

Blake Ahrenstorff made his second start on the mound coming back from Tommy John surgery. Jake Brandner pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief, striking out nine Martins batters. Cubs players with hits included Triston Sauerbrei, Logan Huisman, Tyler Linder and Eli Gaul.

Worthington plays at the Milroy Irish at 2 p.m. Sunday. The game can be watched on the Milroy Irish YouTube channel as they have a live stream broadcast.

Also in amateur baseball Wednesday, it was Heron Lake picking up its second win of the season, as the Lakers topped Windom 7-5, Lakefield also blanked Fox Lake 6-0.
