Windom, Milroy both move on to state amateur baseball tourney

The Windom Pirates and Milroy Irish both clinched spots in the Minnesota Amateur Baseball State Tournament by finishing off sweeps of their regional playoff series this weekend.

Windom, who had a No. 3 ranking in the state Class C poll, concluded its 2-0 sweep over the Hadley Buttermakers on Saturday with a 9-2 triumph in Hadley. The Pirates, who now sport an overall record of 21-1, had blanked the Buttermakers 8-0 on Wednesday.

Milroy, which is now 16-8 overall, squeaked past Jackson on the road Friday night by a score of 4-3. The Irish had edged the Bulls 2-1 on Wednesday evening.
