Wife of former police officer sentenced for Hy-Vee thefts

A Worthington woman who failed to scan numerous items at Hy-Vee was sentenced Tuesday in Nobles County Fifth District Court.

Judy Gerdes, 74, is the wife of former Worthington police officer Gary Gerdes, who was sentenced last week to a felony-level theft charge stemming from the theft of multiple items from Hy-Vee. Judy Gerdes also pleaded guilty to felony-level theft and was ordered to pay $1,031.45 in restitution as well as a $500 fine. Among other terms of her sentence is not entering any Hy-Vee stores during the three-year term of her probation.
