WHS golf teams compete for final time in spring 2025 season

The season came to an end Tuesday for the Worthington Trojans' boys and girls golf teams following the first day of the two-day meet sectional meet in Jordan.
Competing at the Ridges at Sand Creek course, the WHS girls team had a team score of 411, which put it in 10th place overall. Minnetonka held the top spot with a team total of 289, or one over par. Ava Hanneman of Orono had the low individual score of the day with a four-under 68.
For the Trojans, Claire Meyer and Claire Mahlberg tied for the team's best score at 101, and Ava Schutz was right behind at 102. Callie Rosenberg carded a 107 for Worthington. Also competing for WHS were Peyton Nickel (121) and Ellie Drost (125).
Trojan girls head coach Brooke Hermsen commented Tuesday night that her team had a very positive season with a lot of accomplishments.
In the boys competition, Worthington wound up 13th as a team with a cumulative score of 389. First-place Chanhassen was at 284, or four under par. Dylan Kringen of Orono had the day's low round at seven under.
Spenser Nickel had a 92 to lop the Trojans, Gerret Larson had a 93 and three players — Ryan Dorcey, Tyson Petersen and Ayden Stugelmeyer — each had 102s. Cameron Krommenydk also played and finished at 109.

In Section 3AA softball Tuesday in Marshall, JCC's game with Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta was suspended in the third inning due to weather and will be finished Wednesday. Windom Area will also play against Dassel-Cokato Wednesday. Section 3A softball was also postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday. Section 3A baseball games were moved from Tuesday to Wednesday as well.
In Section 3AA opening-round games, it was: Windom Area 4, Pipestone Area 3; Luverne 8, Redwood Valley 1; and St. James 4, JCC 0.
