WHS girls golfers finish second in Waseca conference meet

In girls golf, the Worthington Trojans finished second out of seven teams Monday in a Big South Conference event at Waseca Lakeside Golf Course.


Marshall placed first among all teams with a score of 404, with Worthington next at 423. Claire Meyer's 18-hole round of 98 was lowest for the Trojans and good enough for fourth place among all individuals. Ava Schutz had a 99 for fifth place; also scoring for WHS were Claire Mahlberg and Callie Rosenberg, who each had 113s. Others competing for Worthington were Ellie Drost (120) and Peyton Nickel (131).


In boys golf Monday, the Trojans placed seventh in a Big South Conference event at New Ulm Country Club.


St. Peter finished the event with the lowest team score of 307, while Worthington had 379. Spenser Nickel's 87 led the Trojans and put him 19th overall. Also competing for WHS were Gerret Larson (95), Cameron Krommendyk (96), Ayden Stugelmeyer (101) and Tyson Petersen (104).

In boys tennis on Monday, Worthington played at New Ulm and was defeated by the Eagles 7-0. All of the matches were decided in straight sets. Visiting Waseca also defeated the Trojans 7-0 in a match on Saturday.
