The Worthington Trojans were defeated by the New Ulm Eagles 45-27 on Tuesday night in a high school wrestling dual in the WHS gym.
At 132 pounds, Ethan Meyer was winner for the Trojans by technical fall, as he defeated his opponent 17-0. At 170 pounds, Chase Byrne was a winner for WHS by major decision.
Also earning wins for WHS by decision were Alex Galvez at 113 and Evan Neuberger at 182. The Trojans also picked up victories by forfeit at 126 pounds and 138 pounds.
Worthington is scheduled to wrestle Saturday at a conference tournament in Pipestone.

The Luverne Cardinals girls basketball team led the Worthington Trojans 32-27 at halftime and grew that advantage in the second half as Luverne topped visiting WHS 73-54 on Tuesday night.
Trojans head coach Jessica Hogan remarked that it was a great-hard fought first half. In the second half, she added, Luverne hurt Worthington with second-chance opportunities.
Madison Beckmann paced the Trojans offensively with 18 points and made four 3-point field goals in the game. Beckmann also added three steals and connected on all four of her shots from the free-throw line.
Aisha Zeidi added nine points for Worthington, which is now 2-7 on the season. Beckmann and Ellie Weg led the rebounding effort with four each.
The Trojans next play Thursday at New Ulm.

New Ulm led by just 1-0 at the end of the first period but tallied five goals in the second as the Eagles blanked the visiting Trojans 9-0 in a Tuesday night boys hockey game.
New Ulm outshot Worthington 44-15 in the contest, with Jack Albrecht leading the way for the Eagles with a hat trick. The Trojan boys, now 1-7, next play Saturday afternoon at Minnesota River.
In girls hockey, it was New Ulm shutting out Worthington 13-0. The Trojans are now 2-9-1 this season and will next host Marshall on Friday night.
