WHS boys track and field team gets three individual first-place efforts

The Worthington Trojans boys track and field team placed fourth of eight teams Thursday at the Big South Conference Championship Meet in St. Peter.

Marshall captured the meet with 152 team points. The Trojans came in with 95 points.


Among the top individual performers for WHS were: Tetlouch Gach, first in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.48 seconds as well as third in 300 hurdles and fifth in the triple jump; Permeye Okony, first in the triple jump with a personal record of 42 feet, 7.5 inches and fourth in the 200; Caleb Meyer, first in the high jump at 6 feet, 3 inches; Jacari Swinea, third with a PR in the 100; Fanuel Wolday, third in the 1600; Welbaka Morke, fourth in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump; and Isaiah Bates, fifth in the 400. 


In girls competition, Worthington wound up Thursday with 15 points. Host St. Peter was first with 165 points.


Grace Bates finished seventh for the Trojans in the triple jump and eighth in the high jump, setting personal records in both events. In the pole vault, Lauyrn Ahlers placed sixth and Kenadie Thiner was eighth.


The sectional track and field meet will take place this coming Wednesday and Friday (28th and 30th) at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter.
