Two-vehicle crash near George injures three

A two-vehicle collision Tuesday near George sent multiple people to the hospital.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the crash took place at the intersection of 230th Street and Marsh Avenue near George. A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Maximus Jones, 20, of Lake Park was was southbound when a collision took place with a 2019 Chevrolet Trax operated by Katrina Riemersma, 45 of Ashton in the intersection. The Silverado then flipped onto its passenger side, with the Trax coming to rest in a field.

Three people were injured in the crash and were transported to a local hospital. Jones was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and failure to wear a seatbelt. Both vehicles were totaled.
