Worthington has received the No. 8 seed in the Section 2AAA baseball tournament and will face top-seeded New Prague in tourney first-round action today.
The battle between two Trojan teams is set to begin at 5 p.m. today at Memorial Park in New Prague. In another first-round matchup, No. 2-seeded Marshall will host Jordan at 6 pm.. today at Legion Field in Marshall.
Play in the sectional tournament continues Saturday in New Ulm when the winner of the New Prague-Worthington game faces either Mankato West or St. Peter at 11 a.m. The loser between those Trojan squads will play at 2 p.m., also in New Ulm. The Marshall-Jordan victor, meanwhile, will meet either Mankato East or Albert Lea at 11 a.m., with the Tigers-Hubmen loser playing at 2 p.m.
The semifinals will take place Tuesday and the finals on Thursday, June 8, all in New Ulm.

In Section 2A baseball Tuesday, it was Sleepy Eye 10, Martin County West 0. In Section 3A baseball, Murray County Central topped Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian 12-2 and Yellow Medicine East beat Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 4-2. In Section 3AA baseball it was: Fairmont 4, Montevideo 2; Luverne 2, Paynesville Area 1; and Windom 13, St. James 9.
In Section 3A softball Tuesday, Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian 5, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 1. In Section 3AA softball, Pipestone Area defeated Jackson County Central 11-4.
