In the Section 3AA baseball tournament on Monday, No. 2 South seed Luverne earned a spot in Thursday's championship game, as the Cardinals edged No. 2 North seed Montevideo 5-4. Monday's victory gave Luverne first place in the championship bracket; it will play the winner of the elimination bracket, which still has games scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fairmont, the No. 1 South seed in the tourney, was also in action against No. 4 seed Windom Area, and the Eagles knocked out the Cardinals with an 8-5 triumph. Windom Area will now meet the winner of a game at 5 p.m. Tuesday between Morris Area/Chokio Alberta and New-London Spicer. That matchup will begin shortly after that 5 p.m. game has concluded.
