Trojan wrestling team hopes to continue good opening vs. Windom

The Worthington Trojan wrestling team will wrestle in Windom tonight in the midst of a strong start to the 2025-26 season.
WHS wrestled its way to a pair of victories in a home triangular meet Thursday night, as the Trojans topped Waseca 35-26 and Martin County West 44-30. They then competed over the weekend at a tournament in Blue Earth.
Against Waseca, Sam Dagel won by fall for Worthington at 121 pounds, as did Christopher Santiago at 133. Dominic Larson earned a victory by technical fall at 107, and Bryan Gonzales and Austin Gruis each won by decision at 189 and 215, respectively. WHS also won a pair of matches by forfeit.
Against Martin County West, Gruis recorded a win by fall and Miguel Moreno won by injury default at 152. Larson won once again via technical fall, as did Carlos Hernandez at 133, and Jace Riemersma won by major decision at 127. WHS also got 18 points off three forfeits.
At Blue Earth's Dick Maher Invitational, Dagel placed second at 121, Dyson Neugebauer third at 114, Larson third at 107, Riemersma fourth at 127, Nahom Legesse sixth at 133, Kian Ling sixth at 139, Moreno sixth at 145 and Gruis sixth at 215.
Tonight's wrestling match in Windom begins at 6 p.m.
