Trojan girls hockey team nets 6-2 win over Windom; boys lose 7-3

The Worthington Trojans girls hockey team skated to a 4-0 lead and then answered a pair of Windom goals with two of their own to defeat the Eagles 6-2 Thursday night in Windom.
Madelyn Cummings scored with 3:52 remaining in the first period on assists from Taylor Nickel and Breeta Johnson for a 1-0 WHS edge, and Leah Nelson got the second Trojan goal just 1:02 later. In the second period, Johnson made it a 3-0 game just 25 seconds in, and she added another at the 4:04 mark for a 4-0 Worthington advantage.
Power-play goals by Windom's Alicia Meyeraan and Alayna Nelson cut the lead to 4-2, but Alianna Bristow scored on a pass from Catlyn Freking just before the end of the second period for the Trojans. Victoria Bush got the sixth WHS goal in the third on an assist from Bristow.
The Trojans, now 8-12 on the season, put 74 shots on net compared to the Eagles' 15.

In boys hockey, the Trojans got in the scoring column after being blanked in three consecutive games, but Windom picked up a 7-3 victory.
The Trojans, who got a pair of goals from Ryker Thier and another from Kaden Khamphanh, dropped to 2-17 on the season. WHS was supposed to play to girls-boys doubleheader tonight, but that has been postponed due to the frigid weather.
