Trojan cross country teams run at Mankato East meet

The Worthington Trojans cross country teams competed Wednesday at the Mankato East Invitational.


In the boys competition, senior Austin Kinser was the highest Trojan placer, taking 30th with a time of 17 minutes, 38.5 seconds. By comparison, the boys' first-place finisher — Isaac Bemmels of Belle Plaine -- finished with a personal-record time of 16:02.3.


The second-highest finisher for Worthington was junior Asrat Bonnett, who crossed the finish line in 51st place. Also competing for the Trojan boys on Wednesday was eighth-grader Evan Meyer, who was 78th with a personal-record time of 19:53.1. Jose Chavez Vega, Andrew Olague and Braddock Marquardt were 80th, 81st and 82nd, respectively.


Bloomington Jefferson topped the boys team standings with 73 points. Worthington was 10th.


In the girls race, Avery Hess of Waconia finished first among individuals with a personal-record time of 18:44.2. The highest placer for Worthington was senior Madison Sieve, who was 46th in 21:36.5.


Coming in second among the Trojans was junior Emily Dahlquist, who was 67th. Among the others competing was senior Michelle Chicas Melendez, who ran a personal best of 25:25.6 and was 75th. Anna Gordon was 78th, Myranda Widboom 79th and Ariana Schettler 81st.


Waconia's 34 points led the team standings. Worthington was 10th.
