Trojan boys win second straight basketball game, beat Arrows

The Worthington Trojans boys basketball team won its second straight Thursday night, as they got a monster game from freshman Kason Spartz to win 62-59.
Spartz had 21 points and seven rebounds in the first half alone and ended the night with 32 points and 12 boards to go along with six blocked shots. Caleb Meyer contributed 11 points for the Trojans, who improved to 5-19, WHS led 32-25 at halftime and was up by as many 11 in the second half, then held on.

In girls basketball, the Trojans closed out their regular season with a 72-34 home loss to Belle Plaine. They'll open sectional play on Tuesday.

The WHS gymnastics team will compete at the State Class A gymnastics meet starting Friday, and they'll be led by the coach of the year.
Trojans head coach Joni Reitmeier was named Thursday as the 2025-2026 Class A Coach of the Year for the state of Minnesota.

Minnesota West's women's and men's basketball teams will play their final games of the regular season Saturday when they host Ridgewater.
The Lady Jays are still ranked No. 1 in the nation in NJCAA Division 3 and have clinched the top seed at the upcoming regional tourney. A win Saturday over Ridgewater would finish off a undefeated MCAC South season for Minnesota West, which is currently 20-5 overall.
The men will playing their last game of the year, as they were eliminated from postseason contention after a 60-49 loss at Rochester last weekend. The Bluejays are 12-14 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
