The Worthington Trojans boys basketball team blitzed the Windom Area Eagles for 64 first-half points and went on to a 102-67 home victory Tuesday night.
Zach Hayenga had 31 points for Worthington, with 22 of them coming in the first half. Several other players also finished in double-figure scoring for the Trojans. Jacari Swinea had 14 points, Andrew Mulder and freshman Caleb Meyer had 12 each, and Kaleb Knothe had 11 as the Trojans were too much for the Eagles to handle on both ends of the floor.
Elliot Serreyn had 14 points to top Windom, Job Ogeka added 12 and Carter Rossow chipped in with nine, all on 3-pointers. Windom is now 3-2 this season. Worthington is 3-1 and will travel to New Prague on Friday.

In girls hockey Tuesday, the Trojans were on the road at Fairmont and were edged 6-4.
The Cardinals grabbed a 2-0 edge in the first period when they scored a pair of shorthanded goals in less than a minute, but the Trojans got one back with a little more than a minute left when Marin Pederson was assisted by Sadie Nickel. Fairmont got the initial two goals of the second period for a 4-1 lead, but Breeta Johnson and Pederson answered to make it a 4-3 game heading into the final 17 minutes.
The Cardinals’ Abi Sundeen scored for the second time on the night to make it 5-3, but Madelyn Cummings got WHS within one again on an assist from Pederson. Fairmont then got an empty-netter with 37 seconds remaining to ice the contest.
Trojan goalie Macie Mahlberg had 43 saves on the night. Fairmont outshot the Trojans 49-27.

The Worthington gymnastics team won a road meet at Martin County Area, 140.850-132.625, on Tuesday evening.
For the third time in three meets, the Trojans’ Hali Bullerman captured the all-around competition; she finished with a total of 36.375 points. Martin County Area’s Hannah Cole was second, while Worthington’s Olivia Barber, Addison Gerber and Brooklyn Dykstra were third, fourth and fifth.
Bullerman earned a 9.5 score to win on the vault, with teammates Gerber, Barber and Dykstra placing third through fifth. Bullerman also won on the bars with an 8.75, and Barber, Dykstra and Gerber were third through fifth. Bullerman also was tops on the floor with a 9.425, with Barber taking second. Gerber finished first on the beam with a 9.0 score. Bullerman tied for second, Barber was third and Dykstra fourth.

The Trojans’ boys hockey team rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to take the lead, but the visiting Fairmont Cardinals got the winning goal in overtime and captured a 6-5 triumph.
Fairmont build its three-goal advantage in the first period, but Spenser Nickel scored on an assist from Dominic Pavelko and Ian Bumgardner added an unassisted goal to make it 3-2 at the end of the period. Caden Van Briesen then scored and later assisted on a Maxwell Ostem goal to give the Trojans a 4-3 edge through two periods.
The Cardinals tied the game just 1:40 into period number three, but Pavelko gave WHS the lead back less than a minute later as Trenton Chantharath was credited with an assist. Fairmont, though, got the equalizer at 5:27 of the third period, and Gavin Kester later won it 2:42 into overtime.
