Three WHS golfers earn All-Conference honors

Two members of the Worthington High School girls golf team and one from the Trojans boys golf squad made All-Conference on Monday.


The girls competed Monday at the Big South Championship at Dacotah Ridge in Morton. Overall, Lilly Mahlberg earned eighth place and Mia Nixon 13th to make All-Conference. All-Conference takes all four of the conference meets and puts them together based on points. The top 18 earn the all-conference honor.


For the Trojans Monday, Mahlberg had a round of 89, followed by Nixon with a 91. Tarren Spartz carded a 98 and Claire Mahlberg finished at 101 as WHS had a team score of 379, which placed it fifth overall. Redwood Valley won the meet at 339, followed by Blue Earth at 352 and Fairmont at 361.


Among other Big South girls making All-Conference were Anika Haugen, Solveig Senf and Brynn Gustafson of Fairmont and Grace Ehlers, Dayton Webskowski and Eryn Kraft of Marshall.


In boys golf, the Trojans’ Tyler Jaycox made All-Conference on Monday by finishing in 18th place. Jaycox had a round of 80 at Monday’s championship meet at Dacotah Ridge.


Also participating in the meet for Worthington were Andrew Mulder (86), Logan Powers (92), Spenser Braaksma (99) and Wesley Widboom (105). Luverne won the team title with a score of 303; Worthington was 12th at 357.


Luverne’s Henry Hartquist, Owen Sudenga and Brady Bork all earned All-Conference, as did Luke Ehlers, Sam Schwarz and Jayden Manthei of Marshall, Brock Lutterman of Fairmont and Greyson Elder of Windom.
