Three vehicles collide in Jackson County; two are injured

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon in Jackson County.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Lourdes Nohemy Ramirez Acosta, 24, of Worthington, was westbound on Minnesota  60 when it met an ice patch and traveled through the median into eastbound lanes, colliding with 2017 Buick Enclave operated by Debra Sue Kruse, 57, of Comfrey and a 2019 Genesis G80 operated by Sara Elizabeth L'Heureux, 48, of New Hope. The crash took place at 3:40 p.m. Sunday near milepost 34 in Jackson County's Weimer Township.


Acosta was transported to Sanford Worthington Medical Center and Kruse taken to Windom Area Health; both had non-life-threatening injuries. There were three passengers each in the Silverado and Genesis; none of them were hurt.


The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, and Heron Lake and Okabena Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
