Three hurt when semi/trailer collides with vehicle stuck in snowbank

Three people were injured early Monday in a crash in Cottonwood County along Minnesota 60.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2025 Hyundai Sonata operated by Janay Sade Kelly, 38, of Omaha, Neb., was stuck in a snowbank on westbound Minnesota 60 and a 2021 Freightliner Tractor truck and trailer operated by Rivier A. Lancheros, 49, of El Paso, Texas  was westbound in snow/ice conditions when they collided. The crash took place at 3:53 a.m. Monday at milepost 44 in Cottonwood County's Lakeside Township.


Kelly, as well as two passengers -- Toetu Lavonne Tuamoheloa, 31, of Bellevue, Neb., and a 10-year-old Omaha girl — were all transported to Windom Area Health with non-life-threatening injuries. Lancheros was unhurt.


The Windom Police Department, Fire Department and Ambulance all  assisted at the scene.
