Third-ranked Lady Jays cruise, win by 57 in Tuesday night hoops

The top three teams in the NJCAA Division 3 Women's Basketball poll are all Minnesota schools.
Minnesota West, which was ranked second last week, slipped to No. 3 in the latest poll, which was released Monday. Anoka-Ramsey, which is 4-1 on the year, holds the top spot for the second straight week and received seven of the eight first-place votes. Northland Community & Technical College, which is 4-0, got the other first-place vote and moved from third to second in the rankings.
The Lady Jays now have a record of 3-2 on the season following a Tuesday night rout of Sisseton Wahpeton College. Minnesota West was up 46-12 at the half and coasted to an 87-30 triumph on the road.
Redshirt freshman Payton Riemers led the way offensively with 27 points. Freshman Ayla Texley added 17 points and redshirt freshman Izzy Klumper had 12. Sophomore Katrina Schutz had nine points and 16 rebounds, and sophomore Maddie Kamm chipped in with eight points, nine rebounds, 10 assists, seven steals and three blocked shots.
The Minnesota West women will next play at 1 p.m. Saturday when they entertain Minnesota North-Rainy River.
