State Legion baseball tourney to be hosted in Luverne

The Minnesota American Legion Baseball Division II State Tournament begins today in Luverne and continues through Sunday at Redbird Field.

Two teams from southwest Minnesota – Luverne and Jackson – are taking part in the tourney. Host Luverne is slated to play at 7:30 p.m. tonight against Wadena. Other games today include: Morris vs. Chatfield, 10 a.m. start; Jackson vs. Sibley East, 12:30 p.m.; and Dilworth-Glyndon-Fenton vs. Tri-Town, 4 p.m.

The winners of the Morris vs. Chatfield and Jackson vs. Sibley East games will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, and the winners of Friday’s other two games will face off at 7:30 p.m. Consolation bracket games are scheduled 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

A third-place matchup is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Sunday and will be followed a 2 p.m. championship game.
