Jackson County Central will look to keep its perfect season alive AND advance in the Minnesota State Class AA Football Tournament when it plays against Norwood Young-America on Friday night.
The Huskies are in the state tournament for the third straight season and 11th time in team history. JCC has been defeated in the semifinals the last two seasons.
This year, the Huskies are the No. 2 seed in the south half of the tournament, while Norwood Young-America — which has a season record of 11-0 — is the No. 3 seed. Friday night's matchup will kick off at 7 p.m. at Orono High School.
The semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 15 at U.S. Bank Stadium, with the high seed from the north side of the bracket playing the low seed from the south at 9 a.m. and the high seed from the south taking on the low seed from the north at 4:30 p.m. The Class AA Prep Bowl is Nov. 22 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Also looking to keep a perfect season going at state is 10-0 Hills-Beaver Creek, which is competing for a 9-Man championship. The Patriots will take on Border West, which has a record of 9-2, at 7 p.m. Thursday night at Buffalo High School.
Fairmont High School will play its quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. Saturday against Dassel-Cokato at Minneapolis Washburn High School. The Cardinals are 8-2 this fall; the Chargers are 9-1.
The Marshall Tigers also have a record of 9-1, and they'll play in the Class 4A quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Thursday night at East Ridge High School against 9-1 Byron.
