Semi crash on wet road Monday night injures one

A northwest Iowa man was injured late Monday night in a crash on U.S. 71 in Cottonwood County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2017 Peterbilt semi operated by John Gregory Fertig, 40, of Odebolt, Iowa was southbound in wet conditions on U.S. 71 near 390th Street in Great Bend Township when it left the roadway, The incident took place at 11:01 p.m. Monday.

Fertig was transported to the emergency room at Windom Area Health with non-life-threatening injuries. The Windom Ambulance and fire and police departments, along with the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office, assisted at the scene.
