A southwest Minnesota man died as a result of semi-vs.-pickup crash Friday night in Cottonwood County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Theresa Marie Novacek, 59, of Monticello was traveling south on U.S. 71 and a 2007 Peterbilt semi operated by James Lynn Feltman, 72, of Round Lake was northbound on U.S. 71. The vehicles collided near the intersection with Cottonwood County 11 and the semi rolled into the ditch. The collision was reported at 6:15 p.m. Friday and took place in Germantown Township.
Feltman, who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the crash. Novacek – along with two passengers, Eugene Joseph Barber, 83, of Monticello and Rebecca Ann Witschen, 57, of Big Lake – were all uninjured. All were wearing seat belts.
The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Sanborn Fire Department and Springfield Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
