Quarterfinal round of amateur baseball playoffs to begin Wednesday

The Windom Pirates are the top seed as the quarterfinals of the Region 10C amateur baseball playoffs begin Wednesday night.
The state-ranked Pirates will host No. 8 seed Fox Lake at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Island Park. Game two in the best-of-three series will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Truman. A third game, if necessary, would be contested at 2 p.m. Sunday in Windom.
The seventh-seeded Worthington Cubs, meanwhile, will be on the road Wednesday night to begin their quarterfinal series with the second-seeded Fairmont Martins. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Game two will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Worthington, and a third game if needed will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Fairmont.
Fourth-seeded Luverne's opponent for the quarterfinals will be No. 5 Hadley. The Redbirds and Buttermakers will face off at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Luverne, with game two scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in Hadley. Game three, if necessary, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Luverne.
No. 3 Milroy and No. 6 Jackson will meet in the region's other quarterfinal clash. The clubs tonight at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Milroy's Irish Yard and 7:30 p.m. Friday in Jackson. A third game would be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Milroy.
The four quarterfinals series winners will compete in the Region 10C semifinals, which are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
