The Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office issued a press release Friday about a response to an explosion that had taken place earlier in the week.
At 10:23 a.m. Jan. 5, the press release said, Cottonwood County received a 911 call from a person stating that they were working in their garage at a Westbrook residence when an explosion took place. They added that their garage was on fire and they were burned.
The Westbrook Fire Department and Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, the garage was fully engulfed, and mutual aid was requested from the Storden and Dovray fire departments.
The victim — Frank Wood, 58, of Westbrook — was taken to Sanford Westbrook Medical Center and transferred to Hennepin Health Burn Center in Minneapolis. His condition was reported as unknown. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
