One hurt in tractor/trailers collision on Monday

One person was taken to Windom Area Health with injuries after a collision between two tractor/trailers on Monday.

 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2003 Peterbilt 379 Truck tractor operated by Jay R. Dunks, 64, of Bird Island was eastbound on Minnesota 30 and a 1994 Peterbilt 379 Truck tractor operated by Mitchell James Bonnstetter, 23, of Slayton was northbound on U.S. 71 when they collided in the intersection. The crash was reported at 1:11 p.m. Monday.

 

Bonnstetter was transported to Windom Area Health with non-life-threatening injuries, while Dunks was unhurt. According to the State Patrol report, Bonnstetter was not wearing a seat belt.

 

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Windom Police Department, Jeffers Fire Department and First Responders, Windom Ambulance and the Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
