One person was transported to an area hospital following a two-vehicle crash early Friday evening in Jackson.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2022 Chevy Silverado operated by Samuel Jerome Origer, 21, of Breckenridge, Colo. and a 2008 Nissan Sentra operated by Matthew Vincent Bezdicek, 38, of Jackson collided at the intersection of U.S. 71 and Bluff Avenue. The crash was reported at 7:05 p.m. Friday.

Bezdicek was taken to Sanford Jackson Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Origer was treated for minor injuries and was transported to the Jackson County Jail. He was charged with criminal vehicular operation and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle following a pursuit that had started in Spirit Lake about a half hour before the crash. It went east on Iowa 9 & U.S. 71 and then north on U.S. 71 to Jackson at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
