Five engineering items comprise part of the agenda for Monday's Worthington City Council meeting.
First among them will be a public hearing on the Cherrywood Storm Sewer Improvement Assessment. A deferral of payment was requested by the property owner at the original project public hearing on Aug. 10, 2020, and the council supported the deferral as it has been done in past practice. Past practice has been that the council deferred the principal for undeveloped land but required the payment of the interest each year.
The landowner had requested the interest be deferred also. City staff has not found any history of evidence of past practice that interest has been deferred and recommends that council adopt a resolution with that in mind.
A second agenda item involves a petition received for sewer main installation for the Haack Acre Development. A housing developer has petitioned for the installation of a sanitary sewer system for the potential housing development. Staff is recommending that council accept the petition and adopt the resolution to order the preparation of a related feasibility report.
A separate petition, meanwhile, was received for a sewer installation on a segment of East Ninth Avenue. Residents of that street have petitioned for the installation of a public sanitary sewer system to replace the existing private sewer connections originating from 11th Street. Currently, only three residents are connected to this private sewer system, leading to difficulties in maintenance and upkeep, and the current private sewer connection from 11th Street is challenging to maintain privately, a city engineering department memo indicates.
Council members will also consider ordering a feasibility report on planned reconstruction improvements for Third and Fourth avenues, as well as a request to vacate a public right of way.
