MnDOT presentation on Lakefield project is April 12

The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an in-person open house from 5 to 7 p.m. April 12 at the Lakefield City Hall, 301 Main St., to learn about the Minnesota 86 project and prepare for construction expected to begin in mid-April.

There is no formal presentation planned, and attendees are welcome to arrive anytime.

Staff from MnDOT and the contractor will be present at the open house to provide more information about the project and answer questions.

MnDOT will reconstruct approximately 1.3 miles of Minnesota 86 through Lakefield. The project will include grading, pavement, utility replacement, lighting, drainage and sidewalk reconstruction.

Weather permitting, construction is expected to begin in mid-April and be completed by mid-November. Minnesota 86 through Lakefield will be closed during construction and traffic detoured. Local access is to be maintained for local residents and businesses. Visit the MnDOT website for further information.

Benefits of the project includes improved pedestrian accommodations, updated utilities, smoother road surfaces and increased safety along the corridor. R & R Excavating Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $8,295,538.92.
