The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host an open house for the U.S. 59 Worthington project from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Worthington City Hall, 303 Ninth St.
During the open house style meeting, attendees can learn more about the project, which includes work on both the Humiston Avenue and Oxford Street segments of U.S. 59. There is no formal presentation, and people are welcome to arrive at any time. Following the open house, there will be a public hearing on the project during the Worthington City Council meeting starting at 5:30 p.m.
MnDOT conducted a transportation study that combined input from the City of Worthington, local residents, businesses and other project stakeholders to arrive at roadway concepts reflective of the future transportation needs on U.S. 59 through Worthington. Both segments of U.S. 59 (Humiston Avenue and Oxford Street) will be reconstructed in 2027 and 2028, and include improvements to pavement, safety and traffic flow.
