The Minnesota West Bluejay football team will look to stop a strong Mesabi Range running attack when the two teams meet Saturday at Trojan Field.
The Norsemen accumulated 358 rushing yards last Saturday as they pummeled Vermilion 58-0. Mesabi Range led 16-0 at halftime and then scored 27 points in the third quarter alone on its way to a one-sided win.
Osten Jones carried 11 times for 183 yards and two TDs for the Norsemen as he reached paydirt on runs of 83 and 35 yards. Mesabi Range had three other touchdowns on the ground, two through the air and another on a 51-yard fumble return by Nico Roberts. The team is now 1-1 on the season; it lost its opener 47-16 at North Dakota State College of Science.
Minnesota West is 1-2 this fall and is ranked No. 3 in the nation. The Bluejays turned the ball over seven times in losing at home, 38-20, to No. 2 NDSCS last Saturday.
