The Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team was triumphed in its first of two matches Monday evening as it beat Sisseton Wahpeton College 3-0 by scores of 25-9, 25-5, 25-6.
Ella Hesse had 11 kills, Kiarra Danielson contributed seven kills and 14 digs and Kat Polzine was a perfect 16-for-16 serving with six aces. Shawna Rogers also served for seven aces in that match.
In Monday’s second match against Ellsworth Community College, the Lady Jays suffered their first setback of the year as they lost 25-20, 19-25, 25-21, 27-25. Hesse had 19 kills and 17 digs for Minnesota West. Lexi Schreurs added 14 digs to go along with 45 set assists. Rogers contributed 17 digs and three ace serves and Polzine had four ace serves. Minnesota West is now 5-1.

Anton Cordes scored his third and fourth goals in two matches and Prince Lebbi also scored twice as Minnesota West’s men’s soccer team played to a 4-4 tie at home against Lake Superior College on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Jays are 1-0-1 on the season.
