Minnesota West will host a reception and official send-off for the national tournament-bound Lady Jays basketball team starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Worthington Campus Commons Area. Following the reception, the bus will depart the north Minnesota West parking lot at 10 a.m. for a send-off around town.
The send-off bus route will have the bus turn right on Collegeway and proceed to West Lake Avenue. It will then turn right on West Lake Avenue and travel around the lake until the getting to Second Avenue. The bus will travel along Second Avenue and turn left onto 10th Street, going three blocks before turning right onto Fifth Avenue and continuing to Interstate 90.
The Lady Jays, who have earned the No. 1 seed in the NJCAA national tournament, have a first-round bye and will meet the winner of No. 8-seeded Prince George's Maryland and No. 9 Rhode Island CCRI at 2 p.m. Thursday. The tournament action will take place at the Rochester Regional Events Center in Minnesota, and we'll have all the play-by live on 104.3 The Bridge. Should the Lady Jays advance to the semifinals, the game will be at 5 p..m Friday. The championship game is slated for 5 p.m. Saturday.
The college will cover the reception via Zoom for anyone wanting to join from a distance.
