MCC girls golf team competes in Day 1 of state meet

The Murray County Central girls golf team, competing in the Class A state meet at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, had a team score of 414 on Tuesday and is in sixth place after Day One of the two-day event. Fillmore Central is in first place at 345.

 

The Rebels’ Ada Johnson was the team’s lowest scorer with a round of 91, which put her in a tie for 24th among all individuals. Rachel Huso had a 96 for MCC, which tied for 36th place. Also competing for the Rebels were Lizzy Daniels, whose 106 tied her for 59th, Natalie Einck, whose 121 had her in 71st, and Lauren Larson, who had a 124 for 80th place.

 

Other area individuals competing in the first round of the state A girls meet were Marissa Becker of Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda and Neveah Ott of Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey, who had rounds of 126 and 143, respectively. The lowest score of the day was turned in by Paige Beyer of Border West, who recorded a 76.

 

In the state A boys golf meet, also at Pebble Creek Golf Club, Alex Munson of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton carded a score of 81, which tied him for 28th among individuals after the opening round. Nathan Kueny of Heron Lake-Okabena/ Fulda had an 82, which tied him for 35th. Carson Boe of Lakeview shot a 68 to lead the pack.

 

No teams from the immediate area qualified for the state A boys golf meet.

 

Boys begin teeing off in Wednesday’s final round at 7:30 a.m., while the girls will get underway at noon.
