Many of Jackson's warning sirens aren't working properly

City officials in Jackson say several of that town’s sirens are currently not operational.

Emergency Manager Grant Landbo said in a news release the city learned during testing back on April 10th that this is the case. A siren at Westridge Drive is going to be replaced completely in coming months, he added.

Landbo said a vendor will be sending out a crew to look at the other malfunctioning sirens, including one near the hospital, and that additional testing will then take place.

People are reminded that the sirens are intended strictly as an outdoor warning system.
