Los Toros clinch first place in regular season finale with 1-0 victory

Tim Berger scored the only goal the Worthington Community Football Club Toros would need on Saturday to lead the team past host Omaha Street 1-0, completing an unbeaten and unscored-upon regular season.

Los Toros finished the regular season with a record of 9 wins, no losses and one draw and won the Nebraska-South Dakota-Iowa Conference championship with the triumph over Omaha Street, which placed second in the conference.

Worthington has scored 35 goals in its 10 games while not allowing a single goal.

The first playoff game of Los Toros' postseason is scheduled for June 20 at Trojan Field.

The Worthington Trojans boys tennis team recently wrapped up its 2026 season.

The squad finished with an overall record of 4-10 and included 27 athletes in grades 7-12. Mike Marquardt served in his 31st year as the Trojans' head coach, while Matt Fletcher was the assistant coach for a 21st year. Adam Vosburgh was a first-year volunteer coach.

WHS ended the year by competing at the sectional individual tournament. At first singles, Trojan eighth-grader Ryker Fricke won his first match 7-5, 6-7, 6-3 before losing his second. The first doubles tandem of Coltin Olmanson and Benjamin Potts also won their first match,7-6, 6-4,  then lost their second. Also competing were Moises Segura at second singles and Kade Place and Brayden Soderholm at second doubles.

Segura, a junior, was named the team's MVP, while Potts, a freshman, was Most Dedicated. Fricke received the Most Improved honor, and Olmanson — a junior -- was recognized for Best Sportsmanship.
