Legion baseball playoffs start Thursday for some area teams

Windom's lsland Park will host the Southwest Sub-Sub-State Pod A playoffs, which will get underway at 5 p.m. Thursday with a game between fifth-seeded Adrian and fourth-seeded Windom.
There will be one game following the Adrian-Windom matchup, with Edgerton taking on Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at 7:30 p.m. in a semifinal contest. The other semifinal game is scheduled for Friday, as Luverne will face the Adrian-Windom winner at 4:30 p.m. An elimination game will follow at 7 p.m.
The Senior American Legion baseball sub-sub-state playoffs continue Saturday afternoon. The winner's bracket game will be at 11 a.m., an elimination bracket matchup at 1:30 p.m. and a true second place game at 4 p.m.
Top teams from each of three pods will advance to the sub-state tournament, which begins July 17 at Truman.
Meanwhile, Southwest Sub-Sub-State Pod B playoff action begins Thursday night in Springfield with a 5 p.m. game between No. 5 Jackson and No. 4 Welcome. Sixth-seeded Mountain Lake and third-seeded Wabasso meet at 7:30 p.m.
Both semifinal games are scheduled for Friday, and the tourney concludes Saturday.
As for Worthington's Senior American Legion baseball team, they'll begin their postseason next weekend in New Ulm.
