Lady Jays VB team moves up to No. 3 in poll; MW football team holds at 4

The Minnesota West women's volleyball team jumped from No. 6 to No. 3 in the final NJCAA Division 3 poll of the season.


The Lady Jays, whose only match last week was a 3-0 sweep of Minnesota State-Fergus Falls that concluded their regular season, have an overall record of 33-4. Defending national champion Dallas College Eastfield continues to hold the No. 1 spot, and Sandhills Community College remains at No. 2.


Minnesota West is followed in the poll by No. 4 Butler Community College and No. 5 Rochester, which slipped to No. 3 following a Friday loss at St. Cloud Tech. College of DuPage went from fifth to sixth in the poll.


Next up for the Lady Jays is the Region 13 tournament, which takes place Friday and Saturday at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

The top five teams in the NJCAA Division 3 Football Poll remain the same, with Minnesota West ranked once again in the No. 4 position.


College of DuPage, which has won the last four national championships, is still at No. 1 and is again followed by No. 2 Rochester and No. 3 North Dakota State College of Science. The Bluejays now have a 5-3 record and have sustained losses to each of the three teams ranked above them.


Minnesota West posted a lopsided 63-7 home triumph over Minnesota State-Fergus Falls on Sunday, earning a rematch against 8-1 NDSCS at 1:30 p.m. this coming Sunday in Wahpeton, N.D.
