Lady Jays top St. Cloud Tech 80-64 while men are beaten 82-75

The No.1-ranked Minnesota West Lady Jays led by 25 points at halftime and went on to post an 80-64 road victory St. Cloud Tech on Wednesday night.


Katrina Schutz had 19 points along with 13 rebounds for Minnesota West, and Sadie Krahling contributed 19 points of her own. Payton Reimers chipped in with 11 points, and Katelyn Frodermann and Jada Hellewell added 10 points apiece.


Minnesota West, now 20-5 overall and 9-0 in the MCAC South, shot 52% from the floor in the game and outrebounded St. Cloud Tech 47-32. The Lady Jays also limited their opponents to just 29% shooting.


Maddie Kamm only scored five points but pulled down 13 rebounds, passed for five assists, blocked three shots and had two steals. Minnesota West is now idle until its last game of the regular season, which will be at home Feb. 21 against Ridgewater.

In the men's game. St. Cloud Tech was tied with Minnesota West at halftime but then went on to defeat the Bluejays 82-75.


Kewone Jones connected for 26 points for Minnesota West on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor — including 3-of-4 on 3-pointers — while also making all nine of his foul shots. Calvin Flood added 12 points and Da'Shaundis Moore had 10. Turnovers contributed to the final outcome — the Bluejays committed 16 and St. Cloud Tech had just six.


The Bluejays are now 12-13 overall and 4-6 in the MCAC South. They'll play at Rochester on Saturday.
