Lady Jays to open volleyball season with home scrimmage next week

The Minnesota West Community & Technical College women's volleyball team will open its 2025 season next week.

The Lady Jays will host a scrimmage at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, against Iowa Lakes Community College. Their first regular-season action is slated for Friday, Aug. 22, when they will compete at the annual Crossover Tournament in Coon Rapids against both Northland and Ridgewater College.  Minnesota West will face both Alexander Tech and Williston State of North Dakota in more Crossover Tournament action the next day.

After four scheduled matches the following weekend at the Siouxland Invitational Tournament in North Sioux City, S.D., the Lady Jays will play three more times away from home before finally hosting their home opener at 6 p.m Friday, Sept. 12 against Rochester. The team will be back on the Center for Health & Wellness floor at noon Saturday, Sept. 13 against Western Technical College.

Minnesota West finished its best season in volleyball program history in 2024 by placing second in the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa after being defeated by Dallas Eastfield in the finals. This year's national tourney is set to take place Nov. 13-15 in Cedar Rapids.
