Dasia Potter’s 3-pointer from the deep corner with .8 seconds remaining sent the game into overtime for Minnesota West and the Lady Jays went on to prevail over North Dakota State College of Science, 105-101, on Thursday night.
Minnesota West improved to 13-1 on the season with the win and picked up a huge triumph against a Division I scholarship program that lost for just the third time this year in 14 games. NDSCS was plagued so much by fouls it was forced to play two against five for the last half of overtime; seven Wildcats dressed for the game.
Madisyn Huisman had a huge night offensively for the Lady Jays as she scored 33 points. Tia Murray added 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, while Dannyn Peterson contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds. Hatti DeVires had 12 points off the bench for Minnesota West.
The Lady Jays trailed by seven at halftime and by as many as 13 in the fourth quarter before they clawed their way back. They next play at noon Saturday at home against Iowa Central.
