Minnesota West is in the No. 3 position for the fourth consecutive week in the latest NJCAA Division 3 Women's Basketball Poll.
The Lady Jays once again sit behind a pair of rival Minnesota schools, No. 1 Anoka-Ramsey and No. 2 Riverland, in the poll. Following Minnesota West, Community College of Rhode Island is ranked fourth, and Onondaga Community College moved up a spot from sixth to fifth.
The Lady Jays' record on the season dropped to 6-3 after a 56-48 home loss to the Gustavus Adolphus JV on Monday night. Gustavus shot just 29 percent from the floor in the game, but limited Minnesota West to 23 percent shooting. The Lady Jays also forced 26 turnovers, but committed 25 of their own.
Maddie Kamm and Payton Riemers had 11 points apiece for Minnesota West, which was outrebounded 59-38.
In men's basketball, the unranked Bluejays will look to snap a three-game losing streak that began right after a 6-0 start when they host Minnesota North-Vermilion at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Lady Jays meet Vermilion at 5:30 p.m.
There will be additional college hoops action Saturday at the Center for Health and Wellness as Minnesota West takes on Minnesota North-Mesabi Range. The women's matchup is at 1 p.m., while the men play at 3.
