Lady Jays hope to follow Saturday VB triumph with more home victories

The Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team will continue its current homestand on Wednesday when it hosts Sisseton Wahpeton College.

The Lady Jays are in the midst of a stretch during which they’re set to play six consecutive home matches. After Wednesday, Minnesota West will face St. Cloud on Friday night, followed by Minnesota State on Saturday and both the Briar Cliff and Gustavus JV squads on Monday.

The Lady Jays got their homestand off to a winning start Saturday with a 3-0 triumph over Anoka-Ramsey squad. Game scores were 25-18, 25-18, 25-9.

Kiarra Danielson was a key contributor in the win against the Golden Rams, attacking for a team-high 12 kills while adding 14 set assists and seven digs. Kennedy Buckneberg chipped in with nine kills, two ace serves and seven digs. Sami Polzin had 15 digs for the Lady Jays; Courtney Moser had 17 set assists.

Minnesota West is now 7-10 overall, including 3-3 in conference play.


Meanwhile, in men's soccer, Minnesota West will seek its first win of the season Wednesday when it takes on visiting Riverland Community College at 6 p.m. The two teams met earlier this season, with Riverland just getting by the Bluejays 2-0 on Sept. 27 in Austin. Minnesota West is 0-8 on the year.
