Lady Jays get volleyball win over Dakota State JV

The 13th ranked Minnesota West Lady Jays captured a 3-1 women’s volleyball victory over the visiting Dakota State University junior varsity on Wednesday night. Game scores were 25-17, 24-26, 30-28, 25-12.


Ella Hesse led the way with 19 kills, 17 digs and two blocks while going 24-of-25 serving with one ace. Hattie DeVries chipped in with 13 kills and three blocks, and Kat Polzine added nine kills and two blocks. Minnesota West, now 14-4 overall, also got 57 set assists, 10 digs and two blocks from Lexi Schreuers as well as 22 digs and an ace serve from Shawna Rogers.


The Lady Jays are scheduled to play four matches during a tournament Friday and Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Red Rock Central volleyball team will be hosting a Cancel Cancer event on Oct. 3.


T-shirt sign-up is in the office and needs to be completed by Friday. Checks can be made out to RRC Volleyball. Shirts will be $12 each, with proceeds being donated to Andrew Hagert, who has been battling testicular cancer and teratoma of the kidney.


Hagert is an RRC alumnus and the brother of B-squad volleyball coach Kendra Engen.
