The Minnesota West Lady Jays trailed by 10 points at halftime Saturday but rallied to beat host Anoka Ramsey 69-63 in an MCAC South Division game.
Minnesota West outscored the Rams 18-7 in the third quarter, then never trailed in the fourth in improving to 12-6 on the season. Olivia Hayenga scored 28 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for the Lady Jays, and Hattie DeVries chipped in with 14 points and 10 boards.
Minnesota West went to the line 32 times in the game compared to 16 for Anoka-Ramsey and made 21 of those attempts. The Lady Jays also limited the Rams to 33.3% shooting from the floor.

In the men’s game that followed, Anoka-Ramsey defeated Minnesota West 76-64. The Bluejays shot 38% from the floor in the game and also committed 29 turnovers.
Jiekgoy Wiel had 14 points off the bench to lead Minnesota West offensively while pulling down eight rebounds as well. Henry Counsel had 13 points and 14 rebounds, and Karasharo Ojulo had 12 points. The Bluejays have lost six straight and are now 2-12.

The Worthington Trojans boys basketball team took a 13-point first half lead Saturday afternoon, but the visiting Mankato West Scarlets rallied and went on to top WHS 76-68.
The Trojans’ Zach Hayenga had 20 first-half points as Worthington was up 44-33 at the break, but the Scarlets came back behind 25 points from Kyle Steinke. Hayenga finished with 25 for the Trojans, who fell to 5-4 on the season. Jacari Swinea contributed 16 points for WHS, and Kaleb Knothe added 14.

In boys hockey Saturday afternoon, the Trojans were edged by Waseca at home by a score of 4-1. The game represented a huge improvement from the teams’ previous meeting, which Waseca won 19-0.
Caden Van Briesen scored the only goal for Worthington on an assist from Ian Bumgardner. Trojan goalie Brody Pederson was solid in net, making 31 saves. WHS managed 25 shots on goal in the contest.
In girls hockey Saturday, it was Waseca over Worthington 7-0.

Aiden Tweet scored 27 points Friday night and the Adrian-Ellsworth Dragons built a 21-point lead and then held off a furious late rally to top Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 58-49 in a game heard on 104.3 The Bridge.
Darwin Demarrias-Jansma contributed 14 points for A-E, now 2-5 this season. The Coyotes, who closed the gap to four with just about one minute remaining, were led by Logan Hattendorf’s 24 points. Sam Goedtke added 10 for HL-O/F, now 1-8.
