Lady Jays capture volleyball season opener

The Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team won their season-opening match Wednesday night, topping the Dakota State University JV 3-2. Game scores were 25-22, 26-24, 24-26, 18-25, 15-12.


The Lady Jays almost closed out the match in three games, but Dakota State staved off a pair of match points and then fought on. Leading the way for Minnesota West was Kennedy Buckneberg, who recorded team highs of 14 kills, 26 digs and four blocks. Kiarra Danielson contributed nine kills, 10 set assists, 17 digs and four blocks. Also chipping in were Dannyn Peterson, who had six kills, 21 digs and three blocks, and Courtney Moser, who had 14 set assists.
