Lady Jay Faith Kazemba earns softball player of the year honor

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has announced the 2025 MCAC Softball All-Division awards and the All-MCAC Team,


Faith Kazemba, a third baseman and catcher for Minnesota West Community & Technical College, has earned the 2025 South Division Softball Player-of-the-Year honor.  In 19 games, Kazemba made 82 plate appearances and hit .544 on the season. She picked up 37 hits with 11 doubles and two home runs. Kazemba drove in 45 runs and scored 27 while walking eight times and striking out just four times. In the field, Kazemba had a .986 fielding percentage. The freshman from Round Lake was ranked second in the MCAC South Division in doubles and runs batted in and fifth in runners caught stealing.


Other Lady Jays players earning honors were: Hannah Kazemba and Kya Alderson, first team South Division and All-MCAC Softball Team; and Maddie Petersen, Gracie Nath, Raya Van Beek and Cassie Boyum, second team South Division.

There were additional Worthington Trojans sporting events postponed Tuesday because of the weather. Tuesday's baseball game at Windom is now scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday in Worthington. That matchup will be followed by a 6 p.m. game in Worthington between the Trojans and Fairmont Cardinals; that game had been scheduled for Thursday in Fairmont.

 

Tuesday's Section 3A and Section 3AA softball tourney games were all postponed to Thursday.
