Knoll wins GOP endorsement for Senate District 21

Chris Knoll of St. James won the Republican Party endorsement Saturday for Minnesota Senate District 21 at the party’s district convention, positioning him as the Republican backed candidate in the 2026 general election.

Knoll will look to succeed retiring Republican District 21 Sen. Bill Weber of Luverne. Knoll said he plans emphasize rural economic issues, and representation at the Capitol, during general election campaign.

“This race is about making sure southern Minnesota has a strong voice in St. Paul,” Knoll said in a press release. He also acknowledged Weber’s tenure in office, calling his service to the district “dedicated and impactful.”

District 21 Republicans also made two other endorsements Saturday. They chose to back Krist Wolllum to succeed fellow Republican Joe Schomacker in House District 21A and Marj Fogelman for a third term in District 21B.

Minnesota Senate District 21 includes communities across southwestern Minnesota and is expected to be a closely watched race following Weber’s retirement.
