July's high temperatures were slightly cooler than average and the rainfall amount right about what's typical for the month, according to data recorded at Worthington's wastewater treatment plant.
The average high temperature for this past month was 80.6 degrees, which is 1.4 degrees cooler than the 82.0 normal high for Worthington in July. The Wastewater Treatment Plant only recorded one high temperature of 90 degrees or warmer during the month, as July 14 had a high right at 90. There were high temperatures of 88 degrees on July 27, 28 and 31.
The average low temperature for this just-completed July was 61.6 degrees, or .8 degrees warmer than the 60.8 that's normal for Worthington. The coolest thermometer reading came on July 18, when there was a low of 51. The next coolest, 53 degrees, came on July 1.
As for rainfall, a total of 3.74 inches was measured at the Wastewater Treatment Plant this past month. The July average for Worthington is 3.54 inches. The greatest amount of rain in one 24-hour period this past July was recorded on July 11; the total was 1.16 inches.
For the first seven months of 2024, the average high has been 56.5 degrees and the average low 33.6. That compares to typical year-to-date averages of 53.3 and 33.3, respectively.
The precipitation total for the year now stands at 30.68 inches. That's still well above normal, as the seven-month average total for Worthington is 18.93 inches.
